Body Positive: the movement that reconciles you with your body (and with your life)

How are you getting along with your body? Do you accept yourself as you are? Do you smile when you look in the mirror? Unfortunately, not all people feel comfortable with themselves and their bodies. And it touches women fully. Precisely to balance that balance he is born body-positive.

Shall I tell you more?

There has been talk of this movement in favor of body acceptance. However, not all women apply it yet, perhaps because they do not know enough about it.

That's why today I want to talk to you about positive body and why it seems to me so important to us.

what is movement positive body, or positive bodies

If you've heard of positive body Surely you relate it to images of Curvy women posing happily with their bodies.

That's where the shots go: tired of always seeing very thin and perfect photographs of models according to the standard imposed by fashion, many women rebelled and began to show less normative bodies but just as perfect.

And I'm not just talking about weight. I also include any trait that was once considered a defect and is now is shown with acceptance and with pride: cellulite, stretch marks, scars...

Is there something to hide? That's what he's about positive body. The women who accept and they don't beat themselves up because they don't fit the standards imposed by fashion or advertising.

What is the positive body

It cannot be said that the movement is something new. Self-acceptance is an idea that feminism has been handling since the 60s of the XNUMXth century, but like many other terms, this one too It became popular thanks to the internet and social networks.

For me, it is part of a global women's empowerment movement. What has changed in women thanks to this movement? Things like these:

  • We do not judge ourselves nor do we want to feel judged.
  • We put our self-esteem above other issues.
  • We value the inclusive compared to the exclusivity imposed by the aesthetic industry.

El positive body It has been a huge leap because makes the different bodies visible.

So getting out of the "dark zone" and starting to appear in magazines, catalogs and catwalks was a bombshell at the time. Suddenly the magazines they started calling models curvy for your covers.

Today it is more normalized, fortunately and the trend is the natural look.

Every day more women join and accept their gray hair, their "orange peel", their acne. And beyond, the positive body It also covers different abilities, race, gender or any other factor that influence how we perceive our body.

Rejecting beauty standards makes us value ourselves as we are and feel better. It is a break to stop fighting to try to fit into an imposed canon of beauty.

But I don't think it's all done. Not much less.

I think we still have long way to go, And that's why today I wanted to write this post.

Start loving yourself (or love yourself even more): I know positive body

For me, the starting point is to assume that "normal bodies" do not exist. Admitting it is also admitting that there are other bodies that do not fit into that "normality".

This distinction is very harmful, because establishes an ideal of what is right, good or beautiful. What we should all aspire to.

And that is simply not possible.

There are women who wear a size 38 naturally and there are others who will never wear it because their physical constitution is different.

Neither better nor worse. Other.

Therefore, pursuing goals like that is pointless and only generates discontent with one's own body and frustration.

Sweeping away those ideas is the basis of positive body and the beginning of a fuller life, without the stress of having to achieve aesthetic goals that we will never reach.

That doesn't mean we don't take care of ourselves. No way! we still like it pamper ourselves inside and out.

That includes eating healthy (do you want to read what i think of realfooding, or real food?), exercise, buy clothes that makes us feel good, make up when we feel like it...

And, of course, put on the jewels with which we feel more attractive on all occasions (even under water!, with waterproof jewelry to always wear).

But not because we pursue an ideal, but for the pleasure of feeling comfortable with ourselves.

Take the positive body beyond: be positive in all aspects of your life

Positive mindset and inclination to see the bright side of thingsIt conditions the way we live.

At least, that's what I think. I am very convinced that maintain a positive attitude in the face of anything that happens to us in life is the factor that makes the difference.

Why am I saying this? Because positivity predisposes the mind to find solutions and helps to see the good even in the worst of circumstances.

And now, tell me, are you also related to the movement positive body? do you trust that Does a positive attitude help you cope better day to day? I would love for you to share your ideas. Can you tell me?
